"Kiasu" mommy

Since Eeanne was a baby mommy had been looking for the choice of DHA for Eeanne as a brain booster, the most commonly bought, established brand and even recommended by Dr is NeuroGain. This brand even has the special formulation for pregnant ladies called NeuroGain PB which mommy was taking during the whole pregnancy.

But due to the fishy smell of Neurogain when squeezed, Eeanne reluctant to consume it since few months old, then mommy started to look for gummies or chewable type but can't really find one in the market. So Eeanne has stopped taking it since then. Until the age of around 2 when Eeanne starts to swallow solid food, mommy started back this NeuroGain but still Eeanne not really like it.

Until beginning of this year during CNY, Eeanne's ku che bought one DHA gummies from USA which Eeanne really likes it, but mommy is not really keen on this type of gummies as you can see the layer of sugars on the surface which look really not so healthy. After that market just available on the other brand which is Nature's Way DHA burstlet (actually Eeanne tried before where it was available in S'pore during that time when Eeanne was few months old but mommy can't find it in M'sia, now finally available here).

So what are the differences between these 3 DHA?

1) CVS DHA
- 60's gummies
- RM 75++
- contents: DHA 200mg, vit C 6mg, Vit E 1.5IU, Sugar 3g, total carbohydrate 4g

2) Neurogain
- 30's vegicaps
- RM 36.90
- Contents: DHA 125mg, EPA 10mg, AA 9mg, OA 15mg, natural tocopherol 1.5mg
- contains 3 types of flavor inside: cherry, lemon and strawberry

3) Nature's Way DHA
- 90's softgel capsules(burstlet)
- RM 89.90
- Contents: DHA 133mg, EPA 28mg
- great taste of fruity flavor

So in term of content, obviously choice no.2 will be the best, but in terms of taste, choice no.3 is fantastic while choice no.1 is good on both contents and taste for kids.

Strangely now Eeanne sometimes will purposely choose the Neurogain and so enjoy with the process of swallowing a capsule.

Conclusion: does DHA really help in boosting the brain?
Answer: Actually there is no scientific proven on DHA to make a smart kid. DHA is just the essential fatty acid that is important for brain and eye development.

Think nowadays manufacturers have make a big commercial publicity on the wonders of DHA for brains, and sadly this has causes the DHA-contained milk powder price piling up and up...:-/
And so many kiasu mommies will be the victims of this marketing publicity and mommy is also one of them...:-(
